# Dragons Academy Eckington
Dragons Academy Eckington has been delivering martial arts training in Sheffield since 2013. Led by Chief Master Terry Walton, a 6th Dan instructor with over 25 years of experience, the academy teaches a hybrid curriculum combining taekwondo, karate and kickboxing to students aged 7 and above, including adults.
The academy serves anyone seeking to develop martial arts proficiency through a structured belt grading system, from white belt through to black belt mastery. Students progress through a tried and tested syllabus covering kata, sparring, self-defence techniques and broader martial arts disciplines. As students advance, training becomes increasingly personalised, with options to specialise in competition training, weapons work, instructor development or additional styles.
What distinguishes Dragons Academy is its commitment to holistic development. Rather than focusing solely on combat techniques, the academy emphasises building confidence, resilience and mental wellbeing alongside physical fitness. Classes are deliberately designed to be enjoyable and rewarding—a counterbalance to daily stresses rather than another obligation.
The business removes traditional barriers to entry through a completely free one-month introductory period, allowing newcomers to experience training without commitment. Membership thereafter remains flexible with no contracts or direct debits required; students control their own membership activation. This transparent, pressure-free approach reflects the academy's genuine focus on long-term student development rather than aggressive sales tactics.
Classes run Tuesday and Thursday evenings at Eckington Civic Centre, with separate age-based cohorts ensuring appropriate training environments for all participants.
